Tamara Thorpe is an Intercultural and Leadership trainer, coach and consultant who recently moved from Victoria, B.C., Canada to Albuquerque, USA. She specializes in bringing a global vision to non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Tamara has been an active member of CISV since 2003. In the last two years she has done a lot of the practical work in analysis of the PDPEF for the CISV Education Officer and provided advice to improve and simplify the use of this planning and evaluation tool. Tamara’s research project on the development of intercultural competence in IPP participants was well received when results were presented at SIETAR USA and at NAFSA in 2009.
Jennifer Watson has been involved in CISV since being a child participant. She is currently national secretary for CISV Great Britain. Since being GB Trustee (1987-89), Jennifer has taken many roles in CISV International including IBM Coordinator (1993) and Programme Coordinator for the Symposium, ‘Working World Wide’, held in Seoul in 2000. In 2008 she published the results of a longitudinal study into the enduring effects of CISV participation, ‘Intercultural Understanding Across the Years’. She is now enrolled as a (mature) part-time student at Birkbeck College, University of London, to undertake research into the educational basis of international exchange organisations, with CISV as a case study.
Dr Hua Zhu became involved in CISV as a member of the management team for the KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) between Newcastle University and CISV International since 2004. She has supervised students who worked on projects in CISV and presented research with them in various venues, including AFS 60th Anniversay, Berlin and SIETAR Europa, Granada, 2008. Hua Zhu attended AIM 2007 in Sweden and AIM 2008 in Florence as a member of EDR and was Alternate Chair between 2007-8. She now lives in London and is on staff at Birkbeck College, University of London, where she teaches courses and continues her research in cross-cultural pragmatics, multilingualism and language development. She plays an active role in raising the research profile of CISV by expanding CISV contacts with Universities and Institutes within UK as well as internationally.
