Caecilia J. van Peski, MA
(the Netherlands)

Caecilia van Peski holds postgraduate degrees in Educational & Cultural Psychology and Psychotraumatology (Tilburg University), International Development Studies (Radbout University) and Global Education Studies (Utrecht University). She is currently contracted by Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) as international project manager and works as an independant consultant within Van Peski Consult. Caecilia has published extensively in the field of Educational Psychology and Psychotraumatology. She is a board member for the Dutch United Nations Association, member of the Board of Advice for the Foundation of Peace Sciences, member of the International School Psychology Association (ISPA) and the Dutch Psychology Association (NIP) and a long time member of SIETAR International. Furthermore, Caecilia van Peski is involved in Election Observation Missions for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Union.

Rodolfo Zúñiga Vargas, MA (Costa Rica / Sweden)

Rodolfo is an Anthropologist and Archaeologist from the University of Costa Rica. He later earned a master degree in Human Rights and Peace Education at the National University of Costa Rica. Today Rodolfo lives in Sweden where he is experiencing himself what it is to live with two cultures. In his work in  Sweden Rodolfo focusses on community building projects and education in Peace Education. He is the Vice President of CISV Sweden. 

 

 

Dr. Hua Zhu BSc, MA (Great Britain)

Hua Zhu holds a BSc in Telecommunications (Beijing University of Telecommunications, China), a Master in Applied Linguistics with TESOL (Beijing Normal University, China) and a Phd in Speech (University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK). Her main research interests include communication development and disorders of children, pragmatics and cross-cultural communication. She has published extensively in the field of Child Language and Cross-cultural pragmatics. Currently she is leading three research projects funded by the British Academy, Arts and Humanities Research Council. Hua Zhu is a member of SIETAR International and currently a visiting professor at Nanjing Normal University, China.

 

 

Cathryn E. France, MA (CAN)

Cathryn France is an intercultural trainer and facilitator for the YMCA's Community Services and International Development Department, delivering training to individuals, corporations and the non-profit sector. She has a background in International Development, working with small NGOs in Central and South America to help build their capacity to deliver services in the HIV/AIDs sector. She holds a Master's Degree from Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BA, Canada) in Business (Publishing) and two undergraduate degrees in Communication and Candadian Studies, with a concentration in Racial and Ethenic Relations.

Justin Sitron, MA (USA)

Justin Sitron is a doctoral candidate in Human Sexuality at Widener University (Philadelphia, USA). For the past ten years he has been training educators in the Philadelphia region in sensitivity for LGBTQ youth and their allies. He has also worked as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in sexuality and psychology at Philadelphia University, Widener University, and other teacher training programs. He is National Vice President for CISV USA, and the Head Trainer for National Leadership Training. His research focuses on the intersection of cultural competence and sexuality, with particular focus on the training of clinicians and educators to be effective service providers. He is currently the Intervention and Training Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Health Behavior and Communication Research.

 

Jennifer Watson, MA  (Great Britain)

Jennifer Watson studied for her first degree with the Open University UK, while working full time as a primary school teacher. She later obtained a Master's degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She works with children who are dyslexic, helps to run courses for teachers who wish to work with these children and has been an external course examiner in the field. Jennifer Watson started her involvement in CISV when she attended a CISV Village at age eleven. As an adult, she has been involved in her local chapter and NA for many years, is a former GB trustee, IBM coordinator, Symposium Programme Coordinator and Interspectives Editor. She has undertaken research into the longitudinal efects of participation in CISV. Besides her work and CISV, Jennifer Watson is a representative to Deanery Synod and Secretary to the Parochial Church Council.  

 

Saksinee (Ying) Emasiri (Thailand)

Saksinee Emasiri holds a postgraduate degree in Peace and Conflict Studies (European Peace University, Austria) and has broad interest in Peace Education and Youth Empowerment. She is currently contracted by ActionAid Thailand as Development Education Officer in which position she uses her expertice on educational games and activities to work toward an equal and just society. She is also involved in the Thai Volunteer Service in Bangkok (Mekong sub-region program).

 

 
 

Tamara Thorpe (Canada)

Tamara Thorpe has been in the field of intercultural education as a programme coordinator, teacher and trainer for twelve years. She spend many years teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). Having recently completed her MA in Leadership and Training, she embarked on a career as an independent intercultural trainer offering cross-cultural workshops to students and professionals. Tamara Thorpe is a member of TESOL (Teachers of English as a Second or Other Language), NAFSA (Association for International Educators) and TAP (Teachers Against Prejudice).

Kiran Hingorani, M.Ed. (Great Britain)

Kiran Hingorani has over 20 years of experience as a teacher and principal working in mainstream and special education. From May 2006, Kiran Hingorani has been contracted by CISV International as Educational Officer, working at the International Office in Newcastle. Kiran Hingorani is a member of SIETAR International and has a broad experience in working in the interculturqal field. He has been involved in education and training in Europe, Asia, Africa and Central-America.

Prof. Dr. Alvino E. Fantini (USA)

Alvino Fantini studied at various universities in the United States, Mexico and Colombia. He holds MA and PhD degrees in Antropology and Applied Linguistics. Fantini has worked in language education and intercultural communication for over 40 years in many countries around the world. He has conducted significant field research and published widely, including Language Acquisition of a Bilingual Child and New Ways in Teaching Culture. Fantini served as president of SIETAR International (Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research), and is recipient of its highest award. Fantini is professor emeritus at World Learning's School for International Training in Vermont, and currently a faculty member of the graduate school at Matsuyama University in Japan.
