History of ERC
The External Relations Committee was officially endorsed as an international committee at AIM2000 in Austria and had a clear focus on delivering outcomes in the areas of Publications, Public Relations & Marketing, Fundraising, Non-Government Organisations and Electronic Communications.
Richard Roberts (ISR) was the founding Chair and served until AIM2006.
With the advent of the new strategic planning period (2010-2012), the International Executive Committee put forward structural changes to ERC to better align the committee with the proposed new strategic priorities.
As a result, the Board at AIM2009 agreed to split the NGO and Electronic Communications components from ERC to become independent committees.
At AIM2010, the Board complete the restructure when the remaining ERC was split into the Public Relations Committee (PRC) and the International Communications Committee (ICC).
The focus of these committees is still the 4 goals that make up the Profile Raising strategic priority.
These four goals relate to:
- Communicating a consistent message effectively with each other and external audiences
- Having refined messages for key target audiences
- Increasing the impact of Profile Raising activities at every level of the organisation
- Making the most of our 60th Anniversary as an opportunity to raise our profile and build our profile raising capability.
