What is the IEC?

The International Executive Committee (IEC) is the managerial body of CISV International who, with substantial democratic grass-roots input from International Committees, National Associations and Junior Branch and under the supervision of the International Board of Trustees serves, on a voluntary basis as CISV's International Board of Directors.

It consists of five members who are elected by the board of Trustees, every three years at the Annual International Meeting.

Principally, the IEC is responsible for:

  1. Guiding the work of CISV International, so that it adheres to its established policies, procedures, and rules.
  2. Reviewing the goals and actions of CISV International, Committees, Task Forces, and the Secretary General and evaluating the actions completed.
  3. Reviewing policies of CISV International, and upon review, making recommendations for revisions, extensions, or modifications of approved policies to the International Board of Trustees.
  4. Taking actions and making decisions on behalf of the Board of Trustees, that are judged to be in the best interest of the Board of Trustees when such actions and decisions relate to matters that may arise at a time and under circumstances which will not permit any delay
  5. Reviewing motions and recommendations brought to the Board of Trustees and referring motions and recommendations to the appropriate International Committees for their review and guidance to the Board of Trustees.
  6. Overseeing and advising the Secretary General and office staff on the administration of CISV International.
  7. Acting as liaisons for National Associations.
  8. Acting as liaisons for all Committees, Task Forces, and the Secretary General.
  9. Reviewing the budget established for CISV International.
  10. Supervising with the Secretary General matters dealing with Risk Management and Insurance.
