IT and Operations

At IO, electronic infrastructure is primarily the responsibility of the Operations Officer, Nick Simpson.

CISV International currently manages an e-mail system and intranet and three main websites

In an increasingly web-based communications structure, work in this area continues to increase in quantity and complexity. To meet these exciting challenges, the IO’s Operations Officer works closely with the Electronic Communications Team of CISV International’s External Relations Committee (ERC).

With ERC, the IO:

develops overall web strategy and electronic communications
facilitates, monitors and enforces policies re International and NA electronic communications
manages the CISV e-mail system for NA Secretaries and people with positions of responsibility in CISV International (IEC, EEC)
assists in periodic development, maintenance and technical support for the International web sites
assists in periodic development, maintenance and technical support for the International document centre on the resources website
has set up and maintained an intranet
establishes and implements effective backing up, security and access procedures

In addition, within the IO, Nick works to develop and maintain the IO Computer Network, Internet access and other office equipment. He also provides technical assistance for setting up and using the administrative, financial and database programs.
