Partner Organisation

The IPP will collaborate with the The National Liberation Museum 1944-1945 in the city of Groesbeek, The Netherlands. The museum covers the liberation of the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945, the events leading up to it and the consequences thereof in a regional and international perspective. The museum not only remembers, but also wants to keep the liberation story alive in a modern way and be a permanent reminder, especially for Europe’s young people, against fascism, discrimination and intolerance.

Description

The IPP will have the theme of Youth in Wartime: Learning Peace from Historical Times of War and Liberation. Whether from personal experience or through other preparation for the IPP, the IPP participants will explore the personal experiences of those who live through conflict and how it impacts their lives.

Participants will work with the partner organization to build an educational exhibit about the youth in times of war, how they lived, how they struggled, how they died or survived and how they came out of the conflict and witnessed and experienced times of peace after the conflict. The IPP will also work to renovate one of the museums main attractions, a large-scale map of the area around the museum during World War II. No special skills are required, but some experience in making an exhibition, photography, word processing and/or translating would be helpful. Where possible, the project would benefit from participants who have experienced conflict or who have lived in areas that have experienced conflict.
