Partner Organisation

IPP Norway will cooperate with the Rogaland/Stavanger chapter of the The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) http://www.turistforeningen.no/english/. The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) is the largest outdoor activity organization in Norway. DNT aims to promote straightforward, active, versatile and environmentally friendly outdoor activities and to preserve the outdoors and the cultural landscape

Description

The IPP will explore the theme of “Dugnad” which is term for voluntary work done together with other people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dugnad). Participants will iook into the culture of volunteerism in their cities or countries and the different ways people give a hand to their society and do their Dugnad. As a way of experiencing Dugnad, participants will work together to renovate a mountain hut that is owned by DNT (http://ut.no/hytte/sandsa/bilder). Renovating the huts is done by DNT by volunteers, some of whom will work with the IPP participants. The work may require some carpentry, painting etc. The paths going to the hut might also need repair. The participants will also make a small book or video about the theme “Dugnad” during the stay in the mountain hut and hopefully the IPP can help promote DNT’s work and Dugnad by writing a blog or making podcasts during the project. No specific skills are required, but experience in PR, photography and other media relations would be helpful. Participants should be prepared for (and enjoy!) practical work and have the right motivation to live and work in the mountains for two weeks.
