The IPP Committee

committee2008

The IPP Committee at AIM in Antigua, Guatemala 2009. (From left Søren, Anna, Fede, Lars, Sarah and Nic. Ali is missing)

Taskforce Members

Sarah
Sarah Montgomery (USA) : Chair
Sarah Montgomery is a New York City lawyer which makes her the committee’s obvious choice to take care of Risk Management.  Luckily for her, she also takes care of Training and Education Development. As well as managing to get to 10 AIMs (or IBMs as they were known when she started) Sarah likes running, meeting new people around New York and trying to find time to do some writing. In 2002 Sarah taught immigrants to take and develop black and white photos during Norway’s IPP. She is tragically allergic to beer.

Nic

Nic Hargreaves (Great Britain) :  Alt. Chair

Nicholas Hargreaves (Nic) is the youngest committee member.  He likes teaching theatre, drinking tea and living up to his stereotype as a Brit.  Nic was at the IPP in Italy where he helped immigrants tell their stories through creative methods including drama. In 2010 he is working with countries who intend to host or develop their sending in the future. The first CD he paid for with his own money was the Notorious B.I.G. His favorite food is Japanese though he can rarely afford to eat it.

This year Nic is helping coordinate Italy's and The Netherlands' projects.

   Fede
Federica Gelsi
(Italy)
Federica Gelsi (Fede) is from Italy and will soon be an architect. She has been with the committee the longest, since 2005 and she is currently our unofficial liaison with the Mosaic committee. Fede likes Hugh Grant (which is funny because she has a problem pronouncing H’s) and she is dreaming to become a really good pool player. She collects stories from IPPs, so e-mail her, if you've got one to tell.

This year Fede is helping coordinate the Cote D'Ivore's project.

AnnaAnna Cohrs (Germany)
Anna Cohrs is the committee member with an IPP baby. She went to a Village when she was eleven, and has been in CISV ever since. Before becoming a member of the IPP taskforce she was staff in the second and third IPP hosted in Germany.  Her baby Martha’s dad was a participant in the first ever IPP, which was also in Germany. Anna has a seasonal ticket for the world famous underdog football team St. Pauli, Hamburg and organizes tours and lectures for art lovers. She is also the Trustee for Germany.

This year Anna is helping coordinate Great Britain's and Norway's projects.

Kaisa Kaisa Kannuksela (Finland):

Kaisa is a Finn with a Brazilian twist that she got during her exchange year in Brazil. She started working with the IPP committee after having fallen in love with IPP in Egypt and since then has staffed two IPPs, one in Colombia and one in Finland. Kaisa is mad about languages and her goal is to learn to speak nine fluently. She is still working on that.

This year Kaisa is helping coordinate the Brazil Amazon and Egypt's projects.

 AliAli Azmy (Egypt)

This year Ali is helping coordinate the Brazil-Vitoria Espirito Santo and Germany's projects.

SantiagoSantiago Akle (Mexico):

Tiago is the committee nerd but he is ok with that. Living in California for his grad studies he spends his time between computers and math, running, climbing and CISV. Tiago joined the committee in 2009 and loves it. He has done a whole bunch of CISV stuff since he was a village kid and plans to keep going at it!

This year Tiago is helping coordinate Canada's project.

Join the Committee!

There are a lot of projects going on and every helping hand is welcome. However, there are a few things we expect from a new member in the taskforce:

(1) You should have IPP experience as a participant or staff.
(2) You should be able to attend the next AIM.

If you're interested, please contact us throughout the year, and tell us a bit about yourself and your CISV and professional experience. Maybe there's even a concrete idea you have in mind...
