Description

This project took place in the district of Ituberá, located in the south region of Bahia, one of the richest areas in natural resources in Brazil but at the same time with the lowest rates of human development in the state of Bahia.
The CISV participants, together with the young participants of the projects supported by IDES, developed educational activities in the community focusing on CISV goals. The CISV participants then collaborated with the community to stimulate projects that were already being developed in the region. These included:
  • Creating a library using books donated by CISV Brazil
  • Working with a musical group who make their own instruments from recycled materials
  • Working with a theatre group who perform for local children and in the hospital
  • Making a newspaper for the partner organisation and a video about the IPP
During 23 days A IPPin provided an exchange of experiences and information between CISV volunteers from all over the world, IDES and the teenagers from the local community. By working together around the chosen theme "Quality of Life and Sustainable Development" the participants performed activities that foster the integration, intercultural education and leadership development of the youngsters from the local community.
