IPP Denmark 2007ThemeBeing a refugeeLocationRoskilde , DenmarkDatesJuly 6 th – 27 th 2007DelegationsDenmark , Sweden, Canada, Lebanon, Spain, Australia, Philiphines, France.Partner OrganisationAvnstrupAsylum Center andThe Youth Department of the Danish Red CrossDescription
The aim of the project is through a creative approach to work with various types of
self-expression, non-violent conflict resolution and interaction between different cultures. We
want to improve the refugee’s knowledge and understanding of different cultures, creating an
environment where their self-confidence can evolve. We want to remove focus from being refugees
with different cultural, ethnical and social backgrounds, to explore the creative skills and the
energy/optimism of being a team – while still remembering the challenges of the past and present,
still keeping it an active part of the project.
The IPP participants will throughout the project work with their knowledge and
understanding of rights and conditions for refugees around the world.
The goal of the practical part of the project is to
conduct experiential activities for a period of time. This could include activities on non-violent
conflict resolution, cultural frustration, non-verbal communication and self-expression while using
various creative tools, such as music, cooking, drama, role plays, break-dancing, capoeira, sports
and art.
