The Mangyan Mission has been involved with the 8 Mangyan tribes, helping them with the preservation
of their culture, education and livelihood. Together with the SVD priest it
evolved into the creation of the Mangyan Heritage Center - an NGO and a foundation at the same time
with the main purpose to preserve and celebrate Mangyan culture. The proposed IPP in the
Philippines will focus on the sustainable development of a particular indigenous people, the
Mangyan tribes of Mindoro. Guided by the CISV peace education circle and its principles, we hope to
explore ways in achieving sustainable development through their environment or natural resources.
From coming to understand celebrate the richness of their culture, we will also try to help
preserve the heritage that is uniquely Mangyan, even with the integration of modernization into
their traditional approaches and processes of livelihood. Participants will assist volunteers and
the Mangyan locals associated with the heritage center on various projects.
