Youth Peace Ambassadors Project

Joanna, Hanna and Deimante tell CISV about the Youth Peace Ambassadors Projects:YPA logo

Hey everyone!
We are very pleased to be Youth Peace Ambassadors and to represent CISV International in this two year long project at the Council of Europe! The idea is that we will work on projects that will strengthen our local youth communities and we also hope to share with all of you CISVers what we do and what we learn at the Council of Europe trainings! This will happen through various mosaic projects, workshops at CISV trainings and other initiatives!
In January we will meet all the 25 Youth Peace Ambassadors in group C, that we belong to, and spend ten days of training in Strasbourg! So for now, we will introduce ourselves here and we will keep updating this page as our projects evolve and when we get the trainings!
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas!
We are very excited, and hope you are too!
/Deima, Joanna, Hanna

Who are our Peace Ambassadors?

Deimante:

n622970715_5569915_5149My name is Deimante and I am from Lithuania, but I am currently living in London as I have just finished studying European Studies, Spanish and German in England. I have been part of CISV since VIllage and one of my goals is to organise the first local project in CISV Lithuania! I love music, I can DJ and my motivation lies in seeing a positive result. Through the Youth Peace Ambassadors scheme I hope to establish great links with other NGOs around Europe and build a capacity to train.

Joanna:

councilofeurope Group C JoannaMy name is Joanna van der Hoek, I am 21 years old and I live in The Netherlands. I am studying Political History & International Relations at Utrecht University and am in my second year at the moment. I have been engaged in CISV since the start of 2011 and had my first Village experience leading a Dutch delegation in Italy past summer. Amazing month! I am very pleased I get to be involved in a project focusing on peace-education again as being a participant in the Youth Peace Ambassadors project. It will be a great opportunity for me to broaden the knowledge I have gained in CISV programs so far and I am very excited to learn how to put more of it into practice in my community. I am convinced that we can make big things happen by forming a network of young people in Europe working closely together to encourage a way of living together in dignity and dialogue.

 Hanna:

HannaGynnerstedtHi! My name is Hanna Gynnerstedt, I am from Stockholm, Sweden and currently I study my second year of International Relations at a university in London. I have been involved in CISV since I went to a Village when I was 11 and after participation and involvement in several CISV programs nationally and internationally I am honoured to be a Youth Peace Ambassador! I believe that active involvement in peace education and human rights can create real changes in our local and global communities and look forward to work in order to strengthen multicultural communities to become more inclusive and less segregated and xenophobic. I will lead projects and trainings in both CISV London and CISV Sweden and I am very excited to start!
