Where We're Going

CISV Strategic Plan 2010 – 2013

We are ONE ORGANIZATION, WITH ONE PLAN, working together to DO OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES BETTER and DO MORE OF THEM.

Approved at the 2009 Annual International Meeting, the next Strategic Plan (SP) kicked off in Jan 2010.  Originally set for three years, in light of the potential impact of the Organizational Review, in 2011, it was decided to extend the plan for a year so that it will run through the end of 2013.

Three priorities:

• Education, Training and Evaluation
• Chapters
• Raising Profile

A part for every CISVer to play.

Strategic Planning is the way that organizations build a vision for the future and set out the practical steps for how to get there.

'CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world'

The main way that CISV delivers our Peace Education is through our programmes.  So, our Strategic Plan is designed to help us increase the quality and quantity of our programmes so that CISV reaches more people and has greater impact.

Why this priority?
Our last Strategic Plan saw major developments like Passport, Big Ed and a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) system. Now we need to make sure it’s all working the way we had planned.

Benefits: What are we trying to achieve?
* High quality educational materials that are being used effectively for training, programmes and outreach
* High quality training, with trainers using consistent methods and content across the organization
==> Leaders with the skills and tools to deliver our educational programmes better.

Why this Priority?
Our chapters plan and run our programmes - the hands-on delivery of CISV’s Peace Education. One reason the rest of the organization exists is in order to support the chapters. So, it is worth looking at the whole organization to understand what leads to healthy chapters.

Benefits: What are we trying to achieve?
* Understanding what makes a healthy Chapter and what support they need from NAs, Regions, International
* Tools, training and organizational support to strengthen Chapters
* Recruitment tools to help attract volunteers to the right positions
* Clear targets for programme hosting, giving us more financial security and making it easier to plan ahead and recruit participants
==> Stronger chapters, stronger organization.

Why this priority?
To attract more people, we need a clear, appealing and engaging message that is reflected in all our communications.  Within the last Strategic Plan, we successfully refreshed our brand. Now we need to take that a step or two further.

Benefits: What are we trying to achieve?
* Consistent and more effective communications
* Greater use of IT solutions and social networking
* Culture of profile raising in the organization
* Raise our profile through our anniversary
==> More members, stronger chapters, more programmes
